JW Walthall started his photography career in high school as a staff member of the school's yearbook. Over the next several years, the art remained as his personal hobby, mainly focusing on fine art and travel photography documenting his visits to France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, The Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, and Italy. He then focused his eye on the 'person', a subject more revealing than his previous works. He now works on creative fashion and editorial shoots while occasionally shooting photojournalism around Austin, Texas. |
Remarks by the photographer, JW Walthall:
Beauty surrounds us everyday and can be found in everything we see. As a photographer, I seek to capture this beauty in the intrinsic character of model. The studio, the lights, the camera - they are all givens in an equation that demands excellence. The relationship and trust that the model and photographer share supersedes those physical tools, for the relationship allows true beauty to be captured.
I do not get lost in the allure of the model, but I instead try to evaluate how to best demonstrate the beauty- both inside and out. Moreover,
I chose the name "Ethos" for a very deliberate reason, for photography is my passion as I love the personal aspect of the art.
JW Walthall attended The University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Sociology, Economics, and Mathematics. His main interests lie in political strategy and polling, and he maintains a personal blog (Ethos - The Weblog).
